The garden project now has its own website: www.gardenproject.net.au
Growing networks for good
The Garden Project is the first of many collaborative projects for Doing Something Good (DSG). DSG will be working with Bindarri, Collabforge and members of the Drupal community to build the online communications systems for Hub Melbourne, Beyond Zero Emissions, Friends of the Earth and Bindarri with their staff, members, volunteers and other skilled professionals. Building knowledge and skills into these organisations, their members and supporters is one of the key objectives of this project.
We are also inviting individuals and organisations keen to be part of this exciting collaborative venture to join a community of people wanting to develop and share their skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of a resilient and impactful network for social good.
We have a focus on sharing and will be using open-source approaches where possible. All intellectual property (IP) and resources produced for this project will be released open-source.

Location
The majority of the work will be based in Melbourne (for the most part at Hub Melbourne), however we will also be working remotely. FOE in particular has members working from both Sydney and Brisbane.
Phase One: Tech We will be designing and implementing the technology that will underpin the organisations management and communication. We will be running workshops and code sprints to physically (and remotely) work together. These sessions will be aimed at people who have tech skills or for those wanting to learn new tech skills. Technology platforms have not been finalised but here is a list of platforms we are likely to use: Phase Two: Community Capacity [starting July] We will be training the communities of the organisations involved, in the use of nearly all the technology, systems and platforms utilised for the development and implementation of this project. This will include WordPress and social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr) as well as training in writing, imagery and video content production. Get Involved We are running an open collaborative space so please feel welcome to come along and get involved. We specifically welcome people with skills that can be shared and contributed to the project. We also welcome people who have Project Management experience, volunteer management skills and people who are good “do’ers”. You can also get involved at the “Gardening” level and help us run the whole project. Please leave a comment on this page with your email and we will send you updates. Your email will be kept private. Optionally you can add what you are hoping to contribute or learn from the project.Alternatively you can get involved as part of one of the sub teams that are forming around the project and focus on working for one organisation. You can also register on the Garden Project Meetup site to be informed when the next session is on.
