[From a post on Social Change Collaboratory Meetup site Wednesday 12 January.]

“You may say I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one.” ~ John Lennon

My dream for the Social Change Collaboratory (or what it could become) is a coming together of a diverse group of dedicated change-makers that are smart, creative, resourceful and dynamic, and wanting to make the world a better place. My aim is for us to cocreate a platform that connects, seeds, inspires and facilitates collaborative social change projects with real impact.

Joining the SCC doesn’t mean you have to commit to projects, events or give any money (although we are looking for event sponsors and partners). What it does mean is that you open yourself up to possibility and potential, the flow of inspiration and the transformation of ideas in to action.

What I’m hoping that we all experience, is an inspiring and empowering environment to learn, grow and make a contribution. Whether it’s to the projects and activities we develop as a group, or those that we work on as part of our business or personal lives.

Tonight you’ll have the opportunity to meet fellow artists and architects of change, share creative thoughts and innovative ideas, and help shape the Social Change Collaboratory Melbourne, and design plans for the year to come.

It will be a modest beginning (as we’re starting from scratch) so if you are able to, please bring a simple plate of food or bottle of drink to share.

The plan is to mingle from 6-6.30pm (please feel free to arrive earlier) with facilitated conversation and development of the SCC Melbourne blueprint to go from 6.30-7.30pm. In all likelihood there will be drinks and/or dinner immediately after. 🙂

For those of you on twitter, the hashtag is #SCCollab.

I very much look forward to seeing you all, and for those not able to make it tonight, please make plans to come to our next SCC Melbourne Meetup on Wednesday 9 February. We’ve already got something pretty exciting planned in conjunction with the Sustainable Living Festival and one quite remarkable Melbourne based organisation.

Let’s show them what they can do by showing them what we can do.

With gratitude,

David 🙂
